- Goals. Write down what you want and what steps you need to take to achieve these goals.
- How you are feeling? If you notice your happy, sad or upset, start to ask yourself why. Writing about this situation and what possibly happened to cause these feelings. What was happening before the situation occured? What were you doing before this feeling started? What was others doing in this situation? How do you feel now after journaling? Is there any other ways you could have handled this situation differently?
- Gratitude. Here’s an exercise for you. Each evening, write three things you are grateful for during the day. Do this 3-4 times a week. Chances are your outlook on life will begin to change just a bit. You may find yourself focusing on the things your are gratefut for during your day because you need to write it in your journal. By spending time focusing on the things you are grateful for, you have less time to focus on negative things that happen throughout your day.
- Your day. Write down what happened during your day. Was there any moments when you were proud of yourself? Did you acheive anything? How did you do this? Are there any changes you would like to make? When taking this appraach, you can focus on your strenghts and weaknesses. In regards to weakensses, you can decide it there any any areas in which you can improve. if so, how do you begin to make them improvements? What resources do you have?
- Why am I having a difficult time sleeping? It could be as simple as your are drinking too much caffeine? Or it maybe a bit more serious. Take a few minutes to journal about your thoughts. Write about what’s on your mind, what keeps you up worrying. Brainstorm ideas on how you can solve these problems. After you journaled several times regarding this issue, review your journal observing whether or not you notice a pattern. Make changes accordingly.
- How does ournaling makes you feel? Write down how you feel before journaling and how you feel after journaling. Think about what you learned about yourself after your finish the process.
- The things you can control and how you took control of your day.
Writing in a journal causes you to have clarity around your situations. Give it a try for a month and observe if you notice any changes within yourself.
